Welcome to the board. Paulaner beers are highly rated in this crowd. We did an online tasting of the OKtoberfest last fall.

Look for Franziskaner and Schneider Weiss next - if you haven't already.

I worked in Munich for the summer when I was in college and we always bought crates of Paulaner, so we would always have beer when we wanted it.

The reason we chose Paulaner was not because of the quality of the beer (not saying it's not good, but there's no shortage of good beer in Munich) but because of the crates.

Paulaner came in these cleverly designed crates, which split in two halves, each with a comfortable handle. Made it much easier to carry home.

Those crates are starting to be used by German brewers importing to the U.S. - I have a Binding crate in the back of my Jeep for the singles I pick up at the Paint Store.

I absolutely LOVE Paulaner beers. The Hefe-Weisen was my "Beer that changed it all" I guy that I worked with the recruiting office at my university (as a student worker) put one of these in my hand one afternoon at a bar near campus and I fell in love. After that, I started tasting everything they had at that bar, which is a lot.

The Salvator is also excellent, and the Original Munich is a wonderful beer that won't scare BMCers.

Paulaner Salvator is one of my early favorites - got to try that at the same time as Celebrator Doppelbock (a beer that I almost never hear anyone mention for some reason). :)

The little plastic goats that hang on the Celebrator make nice tree ornaments at Christmas. I used to have a bunch of them.

I think I have one somewhere, but I noticed that it didn't make it on to the tree this year....

Wonder how many BMC bought Celebrator because of the label and goat only to try to drink the Celebrator? I'll bet it was a shock.

Well, at $3 a 12 oz. bottle it's a little cost prohibitive for some people - but I'm sure it's happened!

More likely is that they waited until no one was looking and just took the goat off the bottle....

I wish we could get Paulaner Dunkel here.

Any of the Munich darks would be wonderful. Capital makes a good one, but it just ain't the same.

Fret - I was tellin' Bruno that I had a Celebrator the other night. I took quick notes, but I'll just say that I enjoyed it more than the Sam Double. Smooth, malty sweet - just the right amount of warming. Mmm.

Yeah - may be one of the few brews that hasn't changed too much over the last 15 years for me. Maybe I'll get one when I go back to the beer store this weekend!
