At the end of the boil (last two minutes) i am adding the finishing hops to the boil. After cooling, should i strain them before i put them into the fermenter?

I would. Just run them through a colander as its going in. However, if you want it to be a little hoppier, you could leave them in and ferment as usual - they'll drop to the bottom later on, and you can filter as you rack. It's really up to you. But if I were you I'd strain it.

You'll get both answers on this. Personally, I do. Others do not because they'll siphon off when going to secondary etc... No biggie either way. Pure preference.

Payson, am I right in saying that the brew will end up being a bit hoppier? Or is a matter of convenience and just "when" you want to strain it out?

Thanks for the very quick response. I didn't want to mess it up. :)

Happy to help - just happened to be sitting here eating a grilled cheese and dipping it in applesauce, and saw your post. :)

Fret I honestly don't know. I assume it would be a bit hoppier if left in but I'm not certain. The boil may have extracted all of the oils at that point anyway...

i like to strain them out. a collander will aerate and you will have less trub in the primary, which makes it easier to get a full volume.

Yep....I'd strain them out, too.

Thanks everyone. The batch is done and is fermenting fine. I hope to anounce the final results in few weeks.
