Today I tried Boulder Brewing's "Amber Ale" - I have to say, I am pleasantly surprised. It is very good, very crisp, not too hoppy, but you know it's there - not too bitter, but the first sip (gulp in my case) will get ya - pleasant aftertaste.

I would definitely recommend it. I've tried to look them up on the web but the web site listed as www.boulderbeer.com doesn't seem to be working.

Anyone know more on them? I see they've been around since 1979 and they have some reputable history - how are they doing these days?

I went to the Brewery just a couple of weeks ago to get a keg for a party and ended up trying a bunch of beers...yammi!
Thier looking glass series ( I think thatīs what itīs called) is awesome, with the Hazed and Infused and some others.
Mostly though itīs the friendly and helpful atmosphere at the brewery and pub that makes it worth a visit!

Donīt know why the link is not working, I was in there just a couple of weeks ago...canīt remember if it was that adress though...???

Hey Rebecca from Boulder...

What do you know about beers from Avery Brewing in Boulder? My local guy is carrying several varieties.
I picked up a bottle of "The Reverend" Belgian Style Quadrupel Ale, but haven't opened it yet.
What am in store for?

Ah...you got me there, although Iīve probably tried most beers in and around Boulder...Iīm not very familiar with Averyīs brews...donīt know why...
Iīve tried a couple a while back, and I think I liked most of them! Probably because I prefer to drink my beers at the brewery pubs and donīt experiment that much at home at the moment...
But now that you mention it, Iīm going to go for their beers next time Iīm at the liquorstore!!! :-D

Yep, the Oasis is closed alright...but Iīm OK about that, I never went there a lot...itīs sad that Boulder looses a good brewery though!

My favorites are the Walnut and Mountain Sun, especially their new place the Southern Sun at Table Mesa, which is bigger and cooler.

Cheers,

Becca

You betcha!!! But I īdonīt hang out there a lot, just started going to BJs more last week...itīs the only place with their own cider and thatīs so good now in the summertime!
Havenīt been to Redfish in a while either, but itīs a good place...!

Ann Arbor, howīs the Conorīs there??? I love Conorīs here, itīs my second home!

Conor's is pretty good-we have three BPs in A2 Arbor Brewing-decent beer-OK food. Grizzley Peak decent beer-good food, and Leopolds-so so beer-and no food.

If you make it up here checkout Ashley's Pub-great MI beer selection-they are $$-but good selection.

Cool, Iīll keep that in mind if I ever come that way!

I like our Conorīs also because there are times you donīt want micros, but real European beer, sometimes, there just isnīt anything better than a good old Guinness...ah...and being from Europe...well...

But I must say...all my worries about how and where to get good beer in the States were soon stilled by all the awesome brews around here...this is beerheaven!

To sort of answer my own question...I picked up some Avery "Old World Porter"...quite nice; a bit of sweetness, nice hoppiness, a touch of smoky, roasted malt. I liked it .
I gave my bottle of Reverend Quadrupel Belgian to my cousin as a housewarming gift...I bet I taste some of it the next time we meet. ;)

yeah, the job market is pretty lean these days - makes you appreciate the good brew that much more - be it your own homebrew or the last pennies on an overpriced import (or micro).
