For those in Southern California, was at Northwood's Inn the other night (the one in Covina) and the SN Pale Ale and the Steak/Shrimp meal went together great. Northwood's Inn is a very good place to eat food, they dont have a bunch of beers, only about 5 domestic crafts and about 5 from big breweries, but it's a great place to eat and have a drink or two for dinner.

Like SNPA with Braatworst. While the sausages are grilling I slice an onion into half rings and fry them in a pan with 4-6 oz. Pale Ale. I chuch that right on my Braats and it's good. Tell me what you think, but it seems unexpectedly sweet to me.

That was supposed to be "I CHUCK that right on my braats"
I usually balme those typing faults on these dutch keyboards, but the 'k' is in the same place. I guess that one's just my fault.

A good way to match beers with food is to think what wine may be good with the same dish and then cross-reference a similar beer in body and character. With the steak, a nice Fuller's ESB would be good - even a Porter (as in porterhouse).
A lot of people swear by hoppy pale ales and spicy asian food, never tried it myself - but it sounds good.
Eppie, I parboil my brats in beer (usually what's on hand - but sometimes a special pick), sometimes adding onions, yellow or green peppers and a little butter. After their cooked, I grill them up the brats to brown them and use the onions and pepper as a garnish.
