Back on Dec. 4th I brewed an extract London Pub Ale. I racked it into secondary on the 12th. since then the secondary has sat undisturbed until today 2/4. Grand total of 9 weeks, 8 in the secondary. I have never let a beer sit that long. The reason was I have been working on my new Keg Set-up and i wanted to keg it :-) Today I racked it into a corny and hooked it up. When I racked i noticed small white things floating that stuck to the wall of the carboy. they looked almost like the left over when you flake a styrofoam packing. I put it in the fridge and pressurized the keg to 6 PSI, then dispensed a glass to see if it tasted ok. It is flat of course. It is seems to have an interesting flavor. Almost like i liked a piece of rubber. Is it toast? If so is it because i left it in the secondary to long? maybe because it had an airlock on. Should it have been corked?
Thanks!

Licked a piece of rubber?! :( Bleck! Not sure what to tell you there.
To address the "floaties " issue. I have had these in my brews before and no ill tasting beer So that is probably nothing to worry about. Neither is the time it spent in secondary. I have had brews in secondary up to 3 months and heard of some even longer. As long as sanitation and airlocks were good, no problem there.

I would not worry about the amount of time in the secondary or too much about the floatsom.
Taste again and see if you come up with another description for the taste. When you said rubber my mind went towards bandaid which can be traced to a sanitizing soultion.
If you give another go, I am sure the community will come up with an answer for you.

Must have been some of the sanitizer (Idophor) in the Outline of the keg. I may not have flushed it good. The first beer tasted funny. The rest tast e great :-)
Thanks for all the help!
