Picked this up the other day, and hang with me as my desriptions of lagers are still a bit vague. It was in a bottle, no description of alcohol content.
Pours a good white head, that quickly dissapates to a thin "film" of white. Brown-ish amber in color. Good sweet malt nose - maybe a very slight fruity-ness, but this could just be the sweetness of the malt. Full malt flavor, but not over powering, and a nice maltiness lingering afterwards. Medium bodied.
Overall a very good beer! No hop bitterness that I could tell, and it was very smooth and easy to drink. My question is what style of beer is this? Or is the KellerBier a style to itself?

"Kellerbier" is usually just Lager. What "St.Georgen Bräu" is that one from ? It´s a pretty common name, we have one in a suburb of Regensburg as well, hehehe.

Kellerbiers are, as Sturm says, lagers - but they're usually unsettled, unfiltered lagers with much suspended yeast as Weizens have - probably where you got some of the fruity character.
I'm guessing this was the St. Georgen from the Bamberg region, as I've seen it on shelves around Chicago too. I am fortuntate to have sampled the St. Georgen at a friendly little bar in Bamberg, served vom Faß (off the tap) in a traditional clay Krug (to hide the turbid look of the brew). Very sweet and flavorful, but I've never found the bottled version as satisfying. Then again, I wasn't drinking the bottled version in Bamberg...

I love this brew. The malt flavor is so nice and full and I think the unfiltered element really brings something to the party.

I too like this one. And I agree about the unfiltered element. Most unfiltered beers I think are better. I don't mind even disturbing the yeast a little bit on BCAs.

Saw this (http://www.realbeer.com/discussions/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4153&highlight=Mahrs) Mahr's brew on the shelf over the weekend and remembered I'd reviewed it. If you liked the St Georgen, you may want to look for this one too, though check the date, if available.
