...I hope.
Last night brewed my first batch in a while. The last time I brewed, my friend told me about a trick he had been shown to stop or at least minimize the boil over. Just before the boil comes on you get that thick froth building up, skim it off. I tried this with this brew and it worked! It never even got close to boiling over.

Interesting, I'll have to give that a try.
I have noticed that with the warm weather, I have been getting boil overs on every batch, where In the winter, I rarely got one??
I brew out in my garage.
A method I discovered quite by accident is to have a fan blowing across the top of the pot. When I get a boilover going in the garage, I open the door and let the air move across it, it keeps it down as long as the air is moving. A fan works just as good.
another trick is to toss 6 pennies in the bottom of the wort. does the trick for me.

I'm now a firm believer in the late malt addition method of extract brewing. I now add all my LME, DME, any sugars, at the last 10 minutes of the boil... One of the benefits is that you're not starting with the full amount of liquid that hits just about the top of the rim, so you have more room for your frothing when that time comes...
