A friend of mine, while serving in the US Army in the 1970s, was stationed in England. He told me that while in one of the pubs, he noticed several of the patrons taking a device out of their shirt pockets and inserting them into the mug of beer. He thought it was a thermometer, but upon asking was told it was a small heater to bring the ale up to proper drinking temperature. Can anyone tell me, was this device really a heater, and if so, where could I get one in the US? Even if I never used it, it would still be a neat item to have to show to my beer drinking friends here. Thanks
