I read this about mashing overnight and saving some waking hours for better things.

yeah, i read that too. has some good points to it. letting the mash go overnight and then sparging during the coolest part of the day sounds pretty good during the summer...you have to know that your mashing tun can hold the temp overnight, though.

sounds like a good time saver. I would just be concerned with a very high og for those 1.050 og ales. I usually wake up at 5 and strike my water...mashing by 5:30, sparging at 7, boiling at 7:45ish, wort chiller at 9 ish, pitch and cleaned about 10 ish
