Holy Beer!!!
I'm pretty new to the boards, and I definitely don't have the technique to do a beer like this justice, but WOW.
I was at Goose Island Wrigleyville last night, and since I don't get down there nearly enough, I thought I'd splurge. They're 1000th batch of beer was a crazy stout, aged in bourbon barrells . (Served out of bottles though) It came out at a whopping 11%abv and was definitely a "sipper." My first impressions were vanilla, and chocolate, and then bourbon. As it warmed up, I think the beer got "bigger." I've never had a beer fill up my mouth like this before.
If anyone has tried this beer, please jump in and comment. (Maybe someone who knows how to "properly" describe beer!)

I think you've done fine, considering I would love to have one right now. I've never had Goose Island before, I will have to keep my eyes out for it. Thanks for sharing.

I have a very similar beer sitting in secondary right now. I just sampled it this past weekend...Surprise! Bourbon, chocoloate, and vanilla! I also found a bit of fruit in mine...black cherries, perhaps?

Several breweries in my area make oak aged or bourbon barrel beers. I have also seen tham at shows and festivals. Seems they are the current rage. I have enjoyed the ones that I have sampled. Definitely sippers.

you may want to head down to Lunar Brewing Co. in Lombard or Villa Park. They have also made a stout like the Goose.

Lunar, eh? I've recently been spending more time in the vicinity of Lombard, have to look it up.
