View Full Version : baching it
next monday my fianceé is off to visit her mum. being new to the area, anyone know of some good (i mean quality) beer pubs in the Denver-metro area with reasonable prices? nothing like a good ale and a burger...or a heavy stout with fish-n-chips...at least, not in my book!
any pointers would be appreciated. tia.

You need to just drag yourself to the Falling Rock tap room. They have everything you will be looking for and then some.

I am not sure if it is just a GABF thing, but I have been there when they have tapped fresh firkins of Fullers lineup.

Wynkoop Brew house is WONDERFUL. It's in LoDo (Lower Downtown), and I'm sure you can take a Light Rail in if you want. Also try the Sandlot Brewery in Coors Field.

I will be in LODO this weekend. Drop me a PM and maybe we could link up for some pints.
oh, i doubt i'll be in lodo this weekend. we usually go to ironworks brewpub for ipa and live music. but i might give falling rocks a whirl during next week. their menu looks reasonable and i'm a sucker for fuller's london pride.
my only experience with lodo is the 16th street mall. i know there is a rockbottom there (their pale is not bad at all) -- too bad it doesn't have all you can eat wings and all you can drink beer thursdays like the one in milwaukee. there is also an espn zone, but i suspect that is abysmal.

got a url? i've had their wheat, which is pretty good, but i've never been to the pub. if i lived in denver proper i'd have actually registered to vote just to put my $2*E-02 behind hickenlooper.

Is the 5280 Brew Pub still open? I was there a couple years ago and thought their beers were pretty good - and the food looked good too. I'll put in a vote for Wynkoop as well, it was a fun joint.

I guess 5280 is actually in Littleton, but not too far as I recall.

Oh, Jeez Louise... if it's east of the Rockies, south of 120th St., west of DIA, and north of Douglas County, it's DENVER, ok? It's ALL THE SAME URBAN SPRAWL to us folks that grew up out in the sticks. Heeheehee.... I had that same argument over and over with people from "Denver." You can't tell where one ends and the other begins, so why bother?
I realize that not only is this TOTALLY off the topic, but not even a beer topic... I'll shut up now and close with a url regarding 5280 Roadhouse and Brewpub (which, incidentally, is indeed in Littleton): http://www.pubcrawler.com/Template/ReviewWC.cfm/flat/BrewerID=617
Boy, I miss Denver... get to go back there for a week in a few days, and won't get but an hour or two at Coors Field to enjoy it.... SIGH..... but at least the Sandlot Brewery has good beer.

Ah, Denver. Lived there 27 years. Moved out 7 years ago. Now, I get back every 2 years or so and that is plenty for me. Love what they did down town. There used to be a brew pub up around 120th and I-25. I don't recall the name. It was on the north side of 120th.

You're not thinking of C B & Potts, are you? Also known as Big Horn Brewery? They originated in Fort Collins up north of there about an hour or so. Now there's 3 other locations in the Greater Denver area.
You better not be talking about Hops restaurant... I was severely disappointed.

The 'Koop is a great place. My buddy just told me that the Bull and Bush started brewing too. I've never been, but he said it was quite tasty.
i was also thinking of going out to tommyknockers up in the mountains. i've heard the restaurant is pretty good and reasonable...and the temp will be cooler!

I stopped there with friends on the way back from Breckenridge (which is home to another good brew-pub), it was a pretty cool place. Be sure to say hi to the statue of Steve Canyon for me too!

Then Do Not Pass Go; Do Not Collect $200, GO DIRECTLY TO C B & POTTS. You'll have a GREAT time. :)
