A few of us are going to New York City next month to watch Manchester United play Juventus. Anyone know of a good pub within walking distance of Giants Stadium?

Either a brew pub or one with a good set of micros / imports.

Thanks.

I work just a couple of "blocks" away from the Stadium and I'd have say that there is nothing in walking distance of the stadium. It's not very conducive to hoofin' it. But I can give you the local bar rundown...

Redd's (on Washington Ave, behind Continental Airlines Arena) mostly macros. Also has Newcastle in Bottles, Stella and a Sam Adams or 2 on tap. not so great...)

up the block from this is

Grasshopper Also --Irish Bar with the basics Guiness,Harp,Bass, etc. and macros. Good sports event crowd tho, and given the game you're going to, could be rockin.

In a slightly different direction you have

Charlie Brown's (Chain - On Paterson Plank Road, behind Stadium and Racetrack -- near hotels). Macros and some regionals/imports. Hit or Miss on variety...

On route 17, nearby, there are a couple of Chains -- Friday's and Houlihan's...

Up in East Rutherford, across from the Rutherford Train Station is the Railroad Cafe. You can look at the reviews on Pubcrawler and see that service lacks, but it has a decent selection of draft and bottle.

good luck...

Thanks for the run down on the local bar scene. Even if it does look a little dire!

Hopefully we'll find something before the game when we'll have to resort to overpriced stadium swill!!

Sound like the Grashopper will be the best bet.

And yes Chazwicke I live in Arlington Virginia ( born in Manchester and lived there and in various places in Yorkshire) How did you guess?

I have been to Grashopper Also (but not Grasshopper or Grasshopper Too) and it's a good choice for that area... unfortunately the area is BIG and like threecb said, certainly not within walking distance.
