Well, folks, I have finally decided to try a dunkelweiss that my next door neighbor brewed simultaneously as I brewed an American brown ale. I have taken about 6 "sissy sips" so far within the last 10 minutes. This stuff sucks! Think I'll dump it in the sink & have a brown ale. hehe

That's a bummer, do you thing it's bad beer, or do you just not like the style?
I was going to brew one of those next...
What don't you like about it?
How long has it aged? Was it made with german weizen yeast, or american? This will change the flavor profile dramatically.

I don't think it's a bad batch, Paul. Maybe I don't like how he made it. I know he used English Ale yeast instead of Weizen yeast. Maybe that alone was the bad combo. I think it has aged about 1-1/2 months now. I guess what I don't like about it is the taste---it doesn't have any phenolic or off flavors that I can tell. It's just, well, different. Just don't use English yeast in YOUR batch of dunkelweiss!!!

I was planning on using the German yeast because I like the "real" hefe flavor.
If it's aged for that long, it's probably not going to get any better...
That's too bad...

Yeah...if you're gonna brew a weiss, I think you definitely should do it right and brew it with the proper hefe yeast. I had another bottle of that brew in the fridge and dumped it, too. Hope yours turns out better than his did!!
