I came across this on the shelf a while ago... It's a very drinkable, (to appeal to the masses,) pale ale. Clean like a lager. Nicely hopped, but the hops play second fiddle to a nice malt backbone. I wouldn't call it great, but it's not bad at all. And at $4.50 a sixer, I'm certain I haven't bought my last pack.
This is definately a 'good' beer you could get a swillgulper to drink.

Who makes it? Is this made by Genessee?

It's the same people who make the Honey Brown. Remember the commercials with the stone "beer god"? Pretty funny, but the honey brown was a waste of alcohol to me. Glad to hear the pale is better!

High Falls Brewing Co. in Rochester, New York. I believe it used to be a family brewery, and they've been teetering on bankruptcy for awhile if memory serves. Not sure if they sold off a controlling interest or not...

I thought so. I think it is contract brewed or owned by Genessee.

I believe that High Falls is the former Genesee Brewing Company. A few years ago I think there was a management buyout of Genny and they changed the name and added a few brands. They had a respectable IPA a little while back, but it seems to have disappeared.
I went to college in Rochester. Back in the day, I drank enough Genny Screamers out of wax paper cups to float a battle ship.
