Stopped by Left Hand / Tabernash Brewing in Longmont yesterday to get a "mixer sixer". Decided to give their two wheat brews a chance. Yikes!

Had the Dunkel last night. What a great color! Much like a dark, hazy, amber ale. And, for the second time in my life, I could taste what everyone who is a big wheat beer fan has been raving about all this time. This sucker is FILLED with flavor, from the sublime to the ridiculous! Not sure how a Dunkel is made, but it tastes like there's a little more barley malt of a darker variety than the standard issue. I can now readily pick out the banana and clove aromas!

Drinking the Weiss right now. As soon as I sat down at the computer, my lovely wife, who is sitting on the futon next to me, said, "I smell pears." And that's just what I smell when I stick my nose into the glass. Overall, it's a lighter version of the Dunkel in flavor, but not in the weight of the flavor. It's hazy as well, and just as you'd expect an unfiltered wheat to look. Both had a nice white head that recedes to a not-so-thin cap, and that lasts to the bottom of the glass.

Folks, I am having a wheat revelation much like what happened over the summer with lagers right now. These are absolutely WONDERFUL as far as I'm concerned. Somehow I think these guys get overshadowed by their Ale cousin, Left Hand Brewing. If you see their stuff, as well as their pilsner and Oktoberfest, get it! You won't be disappointed!

Rock on! Diversity is good, variety in beer - the world over - is our little slice of heaven!

"In heaven there is no beer..." Well, then it wouldn't be heaven now, would it? ;)
