For the first time in my 10 years of so of brewing, I am keeping notes on what I am doing with this batch. I hope it doesn't mess things up.

Just make sure to write stuff down IMMEDIATELY AFTER you do it - don't try to save time by writing it down and then doing it, because invariably you'll get distracted, and the list will say you've completed a task, yet you really can't remember...

... this is why I can only organize stuff with a series of grocery bags stapled to the wall. They're interesting conversation pieces.

I actually will right down the ingrediants before I start to brew. Then i will right down temps and times as I go.

my notes from my first brews (10 years ago) are really strange... i created some really unbalanced beers for a while. :D

For my money - ProMash is the way to go in this regard. All recipes are saved in a nice format and it's easy to make hard copies(for backup and trips to the LHBS).

I never kept notes before as it seemed to much like work and not fun. I now have a few people asking for certain beers of mine that they thourghly enjoyed. My best friend, and biggest homebrew fan, has hammered at me so he can drink his favorites. The man has helped me much, so I have to comply.
