I keep forgetting how lucky I am to live in the NW. To me, Bridgeport, Deschuttes, Rogue, etc are what I drink all the time. I'll buy them by the case just to get bottles for homebrew. If I'm working on the race car or in the greenhouse, it's usually Henry's. Widmere, SN, or some other 'session' beer. I read the posts from people wanting these beers, that I have to sometimes wonder. Man, am I lucky!! BTW, almost every town has a little brewpub, and some of these are great! Not available outside of the local area, and sometimes hard to find, but worth it. I'll take a Dick's Brewery over Bridgeport any day.

We're not in too bad shape as far as choices go here in the Mid Atlantic either.

As a recent transplant to SOCAL from the Puget Sound I have to agree with Waco. There is nothing like the grocery store beer isle in the NW. San diego is becoming a beer town, but what I wouldn't give for a case of delicious Mirror Pond right now. I suppose I could order one in, but it's just not the same.

Welcome to the board Brett. San Diego has some fine breweries. Several of which are legendary. Pizza Port and Stone.

Welcome to the board. Bought a case of Mirror Pond 2 weeks ago, still in the fridge un opened. I'll dig one out today and and offer a toast for you.
Eine Prost!!

We just now started getting Deschutes beers in the Front Range of Colorado - I, too, will get a bottle or two and raise my glass in your direction. Cheers! :)

Lucky me - I'm moving to Bend, OR in October and will drink my share of Deschutes brews from then to eternity. Perhaps I'll even try for some job at their production brewery or brewpub. Cheers!

Brett I picked up a Mirror Pond just today while getting as many porters as I could get my hands on, and am drinking it now. (Salud! <clink>) Very nice balance! It's not a hopbomb, but very mild and tasty. Actually, it reminds me of a Peppermint Pale Ale we made many years ago - sans peppermint. T'was the first thing I thought of! Bet it's even better on tap. :)

Try the Obsideon Stout, Cinder Cone and, if it is around still, Jubelale.

Had the Obsidian stout just this evening.... WOW. Quite possibly the best American stout I've ever had. Obsidian was the proper name for it... couldn't see any color even when I held it to a light. Bitter chocolate and coffee flavor, nice "taupe" head that lasted even after I was done, subtly oily mouthfeel, and just enough of that classic Guinness sourness (which to me means a little more than Guinness has). Absolutely incredible! :D

I need to try this brew again. I think the Brickskeller may have it.

Maybe the brewery will be able to tell me where I could find it on nitro around here, eh?

Do you think they serve it that way?

I really like the Bachelor ESB. Deschutes is one of my favorites!

At the moment it's Bridgeport IPA. Easy drinking and enjoyable.

I didn't have a Deschutes product I didn't like. There were some I like better than the others though, like Mirror Pond, Black Butte, and Obsidian Stout. Buzzsaw Brown was alright as was the Inversion IPA, but have to say thatTwilight Ale, a summer (in the northern hemisphere) seasonal was most refreshing! Picked up more than a few half-cases from the grocery store.... wish I had one here with me now in the southern hemisphere summer....

About Twilight Ale, I was in Seattle at the Bumbershoot festival and my lucky find was Twilight Ale that was on tap at the Steamers Fish house served in a glass! and It was way colder and cheaper than the foamy plastic cups of Mirror Pond they were selling in the beer gardens (though the one by the 'Northwest stage' seemed to have it properly chilled).
