The Best I have tried is Moylans. Rogue started the style in the Pacfiic NW in1996--years ahead of the rest. Comments?

I had a Moylan's, I think it was a double IPA, is that the same beer? If so, it was pretty damn good.

I finally had the chance to try the Dogfish Head 90 Minute Imperial IPA - it was pretty good and a beer I'll keep in mind when I next have the craving for that type of beer.

The GABF has a new Imperial/Double IPA category this year. Here are the specs:
Imperial or Double India Pale Ales have intense hop bitterness, flavor and aroma. Alcohol content is very high and notably evident. They range from golden to amber in color. The style may use any variety of hops. Though the hop character is intense it’s balanced with complex alcohol flavors, moderate to high fruity esters and medium to high malt character. While hop character may be very intense, it may not be harsh in quality. Imperial or Double India Pale Ales have medium-high to full body. Diacetyl should not be perceived.
Original Gravity (Plato): 1.080-1.100 (19.5-23.5 ‚ Plato)
Apparent Extract/Final Gravity (Plato): 1.020-1.028 (5-7 ‚ Plato)
Alcohol by Weight (Volume): 6.3-8.4% (7.9-10.5%)
Bitterness (IBU): 65-100
Color SRM (EBC): 5-10 (10-20 EBC)
Seeking out entries on the floor Thursday should be fun.
Prosit,
Stan

I've tried plenty of good selections in the past year or so, listed in my order of preference:
Rogue I2PA
Dogfish Head 90 minute
Smuttynose Big A IPA
Deschutes Double Bale Quail
Dogfish Head 120 minute
Looking forward to trying some Dreadnaught and Avery '10' someday.
Cheers!

Pliny the Elder by Russian River Brewing is a phenomenal double IPA. Huge, hoppy, and perfectly balanced.
DUIPA by Hoptown Brewing in Pleasanton, CA is also a damn tasty double IPA.

welcome back batkins! the biggest ipa i've had so far is the dreadnaught, moylans was good and the 90min i was very impressed with . also the ruination is one of my faves but that dreadnaught was the hoppiest damn beer i've ever had!
i wish they'd bottle the duipa, i like hoptowns offerings, but haven't had/cant have the duipa down south here.

I sampled Dogfish 60 minute on tap at their pub in Rehobeth on Saturday. Unfortunately I could only have one because I had a 2 1/2 hour drive home and it was snowing there then. I was up in Ocean City just for the day looking at condos.

Sorry Hopjack! Just thought I'd bring something back from the dead! I heard Crazy Dave from Hoptown is selling his brewery and moving to San Diego. Not sure if it's true, just rumor at this point. If he does, though, you might get some of his beers down there if he opens another brewery.

It is a good beer. I was glad to see that Vinny C. was able to aquire the brands when Korbel got rid of the brewing division. Russian River is damned good beer.

Vinnie is one of the most talented brewers I know. His new brewery/pub should be opening in the next few weeks, hopefully. I know they're pretty close. It's going to be in Santa Rosa, not far from the original spot.
