Cameron's Brewery, Lion Brewery. Hartlepool, England. 6.0% ABV, 16.9 oz bottle, best by 31/10/05 (should buy another to lay down till that date).

Deep copper brown with a cream colored head that settles to a thin, bubbly cap.

Caramel malt nose with some mild citrus fruit esters and alcohol back. Mellow, spicy hops in finish. Some mild DMS.

Biscuit malt flavor with dry hop and alcohol flavors back. Esters of mellow dark fruits present. Subtle diacetyl in aftertaste.

Medium body with a crisp mouth-feel.

A very good, hearty winter warmer with big English ale character.

Since when did 'Christmas' become a word to apologize for?

It's all the rage this year. I was told by our receptionist at work, that the tree she decorated in the office was a holiday tree, not a christmas tree.

There have been a few threads bouncing around - started, I think, by someone mentioning that Anchor's Our Special Ale isn't called a "Christmas" beer any more.

Let me clear up that any comments I'm adding are strictly satirical to the whole political correctness phobia. Anyone offended by this being a "Christmas" beer ought to shy away from it - 'cause there's a big ol' picture of St. Nick on the label! ;)

That is so stupid! if you don't believe in christmas and don't want to celebrate it , then fine, thats your thing. but don't go bitching and whining about it and f#@%ing it up for everyone else. of all the things to bitch about. some people just need to get a life!
there are some real problems and real issues in this world. there are plenty of other things to put your energy in to that would be infinitely more productive then worrying about what someone else wants to call their "CHIRSTMAS TREE" some people are so petty!!! yeah they don't believe in Chirstmas, but they still take the holiday off don't they? you'll never hear them say " i don't believe in Christmas so im just going to come to work anyway"

sorry for the rant, but i do feel better now :D

If this goes any further, we should probably switch the talk to News & Oinion - that said, Hop - I think most of the rumble is being caused by those not wanting to focus only on Christmas and leave other beliefs in the wake. A noble cause, yes - but everything has to be so homogenized in the U.S. these days, it's plain ridiculous.

A co-worker recently attended his 7 year old niece's "Holiday Recital," and he said it was just silly how they chose every song to exclude any reference to any religious overtone - let alone Santa, Rudolph, or Christmas trees. Inane.
