Ok, some of you may be tired of hearing about my exploding strawberry wheat, but I have another question for the experts here.

After having the violent fermentation yesterday (the day I brewed it) and losing an engire gallon to blowoff, All activity seems to have stopped. I don't see any bubbles at all for over 5 minutes and i'm pretty sure I've got a good seal on my lid.

My question is, could the active yeast have all been blown off in the massive foam over? Should I repitch If I don't get any action in a day or two?

I'm wanting to mess with this as little as possible, especially since this beer has been through a lot of handling in the first 36 hours.

just relax. You didnt loose all the yeast. A good rule of thumb is to touch it as little as possible. Make sure you have a good seal and then just kick back and be patient. It will be ready soon.

not sure what kind of yeast you used, but you are much more likely to have finished the majority of your ferment, than losing your yeast. If you can't relax and wait, take a hydromter reading and see where you are....

My barleywine that did the same violent overflow thing dropped to about a 15 second bubble rate, and over the past few days, it has actually been picking up and is now going at 1 second plus...
I think what happens is that you do actually lose quite a bit of yeast, and it needs to build up in numbers again before your bubble rate will take off again..
this is just a guess based on what mine did....let us know what it does.
