Suggestions for my first lager

I just scored a freezer I am going to use for lagering and I have been debating what my first lager ought to be. I was thinking about a February-fest, but I haven't quite decided. I would like it to be a beer with a little room for imperfection (just in case!).

Anyone have any suggestions and/or favorite recipes that wish to share. I would also appreciate any common wisdom experience may have granted you (especially "what-not-to do's").
