Just found some Thomas Hardy in the store. $24.99 for four 6 oz bottles. Is this justifiable? I've never tried it but hear that it can be aged for 25 years!

Justifiable? Only your tastebuds can judge that. That said $24 seems a bit steep. I've seen the new vintage sell for $20, max. And I scored some aged (1995?) in a store last year for like $10/4-pk. It can and is aged for 25 years or more with reportedly good results. If your local beer store allows singles, buy one and judge for yourself whether it's worth the $24 investment.

Cheers!

What year was it? When they stopped brewing it for a bit my local store sold out in hours.

I've not tried the new stuff but have plenty of bottles of older years in the cellar. Some past being good i think. My 1986 was a gift to be shared with my son on his 18th birthday. He turns 18 next Saturday!. I have some older bottles than that as well. I have been told that the 1986 is past its prime and was really best about 5 years ago. We shall see.

Interesting. I think I'll get some and squirrel it away for the sake of curiosity if nothing else. Cool 18th B'day idea by the way!
