Well, we've seen no snow until today, temps have been chilly, but all in all very nice. Then all of a sudden.....

Some roads are impassable, there are wrecks all over town, and people are driving like crazy.

Everyone have their winter warmers ready?

Boy, that bites, especially on Thanksgiving weekend if you're travelling. Beautiful sunny weather here in Minnesota, so our drive should be good. Chilly, but sunny. I can remember several Thanksgiving drives with freezing rain. I'd rather have snow than freezing rain...

Tonight should hopefully be our first freeze. I hope it's a good'un too, because I'm sick to death of the mosquitoes! Today finally turned off sunny after two solid weeks of rain. Tomorrow for us should be sunny, if still squishy outside. I've got Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale, Celebrator Dopplebock, and Paulaner Double Bock waiting for me in the fridge. Mmm...Celebrator.

Paulaner's double bock is called Optimator, correct? Boy after that and a Celebrator, you'll be feeling no pain!

I'm heading to the beach tomorrow so I don't care what the weather is. I love it there all year round. If it's cold I'll turn on the fireplace. Friday I'm looking at several condos that are for sale. I'm looking for one I can rent out.

Its snowing like crazy here right now. They say we can expect around 2 inches tonight.

Bruno_78

Two inches? We got two inches in the first hour! It's supposed to go on until 3am.

Funny, I had the strange urge to stop by the paint store on the way home and pick up a six pack of Bigfoot.

This is totally unfair. Here I live in Minnesota, land of the macho snowfolk, and we haven't seen a flake of snow all year.Of coarse the last few years we haven't seen much snow and cold and it's making some of the hardy soft. What this state needs is a good blast of about 10 inches with a 40 mph wind with zero temps to set us straight. What do ya say Waconia Dave? You ready for a good blast?I sure am. One that shuts things down a day or two.I got lots of homebrew, a freezer full of meat and firewood a plenty.Bring it on!

Well, don't send it down here, Ontap...I've lived in WI and MN all my life and I'm sick of the winters.

At least they used to be cold and snowy from late November until April, them spring would arrive; it seems now it is just kind of shitty from November clear through most of May.

Of course, when I was younger and living on the family farm, I had a snowmobile and hundreds of acres to ride it on...now I have a motorcyle; puts winter into a whole different perspective.

Bluesharp, if it's a street bike I guess you're out of luck. However, if it's a dirt bike, then its hare scramble time!!!!!!! No better time to race in the woods (and crash into trees, rocks, etc) than when snow is on the ground

No snow here yet. In the past several years we have been getting more than our share. I like snow some. We usually get about 4 inches and its gone in a day or two. The last few years have been rougher. Lots more snow. Two years ago I could not even get out of the airport for a trip to Atlantis, Bahamas. Dulles and Reagan National were closed for days. Fortunately it was the only time I ever purchased trip insurance so I got the entire $6,000.00 back.

My brother lives in Berkeley Springs W.V. The last few years he said they been measuring their snow in feet rather than inches. Last year they had a storm that dump 48 inches. That is almost unheard of even here in Michigan.

We got the 2 inches they said we would get. It really looks beautiful. Down state got hit with about 9 inches.

My sister and her husband live in the UP. Near Rapid River and Escanaba. They usually get lots of snow.

Jake

Yes your right they get a lot of what is known as "Lake Effect Snow". Well maybe not Escanaba or Rapid River but just north of there in Marquette. The UP does get plenty of snow along with parts of the LP on the Lake Michigan side.

I was speaking of at one time. Even were I live we average about 65 inches of snow fall a season. Escanaba more like 100, Marquette 120

This Sunday I get to play at the top of a mountain in Aspen (reading charts!!!! Good thing I already know these tunes!), and they expect snowfall off and on for the next few days. Ought to be quite interesting to see how they pull THIS one off! All my stuff gets to be loaded onto a gondola and hauled, along with me, up to the summit. You know, people with money just scare me sometimes! They have to be forking over almost $10,000 for the band ALONE. I won't get to see near that, but they're certainly making it worth my while...

Eyes are getting a little better each day. (Pretty sure it's not MS, now, Doc - so sorry to disappoint you. ;)) Even had a beer tonight - Abita TurboDog. Good news is that it's probably the best brown ale I've had; bad news is that I still can't quite get the taste for a brown ale. I keep hoping though!

Oh, yeah - the beer didn't affect my ability to see at all. More good news!

Might snow tomorrow for my big night in Denver - we're on TV! Anyone in the area who happens to get Channel 9 KUSA-TV who wants to tune in at 6pm Mtn. time can catch me backing up Jennifer Lane for the Light The Lights ceremony. Let me know how bad I sounded (if you can hear the bass at all), okay?

A cold front came through here yesterday. It got all the way down to 55 degrees this morning.
The only drawback to enjoying this weather is having to deal with hurricanes all summer long:mad:

All this over snow. We had snow, it melted. It is now on the ground again. We too get a ton of lake effect snow here in the Syr area. We have not had a storm to write home about yet this winter season but I am sure there are 4 or 5 on the way.

The best way to deal with snow is to pour another beer.

it snowed a couple of inches the night before i flew out to PA and by all reports, sounds like there has been more since I left. Looks like it will be snowing all weekend to welcome me back, too.

Having grown up in WI, I don't mind the snow, never understood why it was such a big deal (especially since most of it melts by the end of the day where I live)...but with all the CA drivers in my area, the reason I don't like the stuff is because no one seems to be able to drive in it! Although, it isn't as bad as when I lived in Seattle when people would just stop in the freeway, turn on their hazards, and walk away from the cars...and then wonder why their car batteries were dead the next morning.

1 inch of snow in DC means pandimonium.

Yeah, we get the best kind of snow around here. It snows a couple inches, kids go outside and make lopsided, mushy snowmen full of leaves and dirt, then by noon it's burned off. But stay home 'til it does; people don't have a clue how to drive in snow in Texas.

Unfortunately, what we more commonly get is those pesky ice storms. Very dangerous.

Paulaner's double bock is Salvatore. If memory serves, Optimator is Spaten's.

That was one of the nice things about living in Seattle...by noon, everything was melted, so I would stay at home, sled down our hill with my daughter and have snowball fights and such, then drive her to school at noon and go off to work. The downside was working until 2100 or so and not being able to read with her before bedtime.
