I am strongly considering attending UC Davis' Master Brewers Program. I was wondering if anyone knows how this school matches up to The World Brewing Institue? Is this school prestigous as far as the brewing industry is concerned? Any information would be helpful. Thank You

I've heard good things about the Davis program. I think I've met a few graduates but it's been a while. It's still a UC -- good education. The Institute, is that in Chicago? I have also heard good things. I believe the guy I know, Martin Velas , went there ( don't quote me ). He's a great brewer. Hopefully there'll be someone on this board that can inform you better. Good luck and great brewing.

This is my first post here. I was also curious about the UC Davis programs, and I would like to know of any other similar programs (preferably in the western US). I don't know a whole lot about brewing technologies, but it is my a dream to create my own beer and run a successful Brew Pub. What is the best way for an eager beginner to get their foot in the door of the industry? I would like to hook up with a Brewer in the Olympia / Tacoma / Seattle area, and offer my services in my free time. I'm in the Army so I would have to work around that schedule. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
