Is there much difference between using pellets or fresh hops?

I use pellets for bittering and flowers for aroma, unless the hops I want come in a different form. The rationale being that the best hops are converted to pellets (i.e. the ones with the highest alpha acids), but (my opinion) the flowers tend to hold the betas better for aroma.

Do you need to treat the flowers any different, do the take longer in boil or steep?

No, No. I freeze flowers just like I freeze pellets. The big difference is that when I add pellets, I take the wort off the heat as they tend to produce foam otherwise.

one more difference, whole hops are much easier to strain than pellets. I make every effort now to only use whole hops, it makes my yeast harvesting much nicer...

I can see where it would be easier to harvest the yeast with flowers, do you bag your hops or just throw them in?

I just toss them in, but I have a bazooka screen in my kettle to strain....
