Yet another brewpub review. OK, this place had actual food! I ate lunch and supper there. For lunch I had a passable fish and chips (nothing like my fish recipe, but quite tasty). For supper I had Carne Adovado (good flavor, not quite spicy enough -- the black beans were really good, which is saying something, because I usually hate black beans).

Started off with a sampler, and I'll call out the beers I found decent (note: I did not try the hefeweizen as I detest wheat beers). The oatmeal stout had really decent head retention, very smooth, with a kind of nutty finish to it. The Peach Ale (yeah, you read that correctly) was actually quite nice -- a very, very good ale with a definite peach overtone to it. The Kiltlifter Scotch Ale was definitely a good, malty, strong ale with a bit of a peaty aftertaste and a definite alcohol bite. The Pale Ale was definitely a good session beer with a nice pleasant mix of 2-row and hops (couldn't quite make it out, but a good northern brewer nose to it). The IPA was definitely big hops and a strong alcohol bite, and definitely within style. The seasonal (a barley wine) had a very complex hop profile, a strong alcohol bite (11%), and really was a pleasing palate experience. There were about four other beers that were decent, but that I did not really take notes on.

Apparently I will miss tomorrow's kegging of another seasonal, their pumpkin porter, which is made with pumpkin extract. By all accounts, a really decent beer.

Also, Four Seasons does a cask conditioned ale Wednesday thru Saturday (which I will also miss).

I was also informed that I should try B.J.'s next time I am in town (which is actually closer to where the new offices will be), so that will probably be my next review. In the mean time, this place (Four Peaks) is on my must stop at list for Tempe, AZ.

Hey b3s, glad to have you back!

I love going to Four Peaks everytime I'm down in AZ every March for Spring Training. Never actually eaten there, but the beers are always great.

Oh, and brought back a growler of the hop knot...not quite sure how to classify this one...a fairly hoppy ale, but not a pale, and not an IPA...I suppose it is supposed to be an APA, but the hops do not seem American (although I guess most APAs I have had use a variant of Cascade with that distinctly floral aroma).

and thanks, Stod. I'm not sure if I am back or not...depends...

Glad you liked the beers at Four Peaks b3s. Along with BJ's, you ought to try Papago (http://www.papagobrewing.com/) Brewing and Rio Salado (http://www.riosaladobeer.com/). Both are in that same area.

I was just at Four Peaks lask week, and it is one of my favorites. One night we had their cask 8th street, and a couple of nights later we had their cask IPA. Unfortunately they were out of Hopknot when I was there, so I had to settle for their seasonal barleywine. Life can be tough sometimes.
