View Full Version : Favourite beer above avatar?
stronk

Here's a potentially good idea: why not change the 'Title' below our names to 'Favourite beer'?
As well as being interesting, it would make it easier to see where people are coming from when they post tasting notes, etc.
So, what about it?
Sounds like a good plan to me. Now I will need to spend a few days for working out a system to pick my favorite beer!:D

Allow me to be the first to participate (except for Theakston, of course). Nice idea!
Now I'm going to have to get a pic of 90 in my glass instead of Guinness.....

It is tough to choose an all time favorite. It depends on the mood at the time. Kind of like choosing a favorite Beatles song. Mine constantly changes.

True, but as long as I've known you, chaz, you've been a champion of the two beers you just mentioned. Well done!

I'm having trouble choosing my favourite, now that I've got down to it! I think I'll go with the one I'm currently raving about: Sneck Lifter (love the name, too!).

I'm just kidding, Fly - there are few people here that I would consider to be arrogant... so few that I can't think of anyone off hand. But it WOULD be quite the attention getter, now, wouldn't it?
(It would also help if you were able to swipe the logo and use it as an avatar - helps prevent people from getting the wrong idea!)

I'm going with my all time favorite, Mudshark Porter.. haven't had it in years. I think it is made by Fish Tale Brewery in Washington.. there was only one place I ever found it, on tap at my local pub, The Pub at the End of the Universe in Portland, OR. (memories..)

Did they have to pay royalties to Douglas Adams for the name? ;)
Mudshark Porter sounds yummy.... don't know why, but instinctively I know that I would just love it...

I like the idea but with one change. Instead of under opur name, how about our beer of choice instead of date registered. I mean if our beer is to give you an idea of who we are then you need to know things like beer brewing goalie. I mean how can you trust anything some nut says that lets people shoot rock hard pucks at him for fun?
Oh, I am that nut.

Fret: Sneck Lifter is a beer from the Lake District. Apparently the term was originally used to describe the sixpence which you'd have to use to lift the latch of the pub door to let yourself in and then immediately spend on a beer.
Oh for the days when a pint cost 6 pence!

Hah! Yes! Funny you should mention that, as my desktop wallpaper I have a picture of the nuclear explosion of XX-11 IVY MIKE fired over Enewetak. I love the looks I get when people come in my office!
*I should also say that I in no way am trying to promote nuclear war or to make a joke out of it. As a scientist I find the science behind it, the stories of those involved in its discovery, and the history of that time facinating*
If your still with me at this point, lets go get another beer!

if you have some sort of drawing package on your 'puter, like photoshop or something, you should be able to open your picture, and re-size it. If there's an option to re-size by cm or pixels, choose pixels, and set it to an acceptable size (is it 70 x 70?)
