Har - Spam Adams. I tried the triplebock in Portland at the Micro Brew and Brew-pubs conference quite a few years ago. Maybe when it was first introduced? And I have a bottle of it "laying down" just for the fun of it. But in my opinion it's an acquired taste. I remember it tasting very much like sherry. Cask aging? I don't know - but I really didn't think it was all that terrific.
AFA Sam contracting, they do contract out in regions around the country - their reasoning being freshness and cost saving. They haven't built breweries around the country (world) as AB has, and their brewery in Massachusettes can't handle the production - so I guess they've formulated a good recipe that can be reproduced well and they must have overseers that keep watch on the quality.
I've been thinking that it would be interesting to try a bottle of Sam from each region (not sure how many) as a tasting experiment.

i found something here and they went in to where the differnt brewerys of spam adams are located and who they're contracted with. sounds like a good idea, there probably are differences in the tastes.
