Either hopjack's making a very strange innuendo-oriented joke, or I'm not understanding....

I don't get it?

Bwahahaha! Had to. ;)

I think he's talking about tasting various vintages of such brews as SN Celebration Ale - in the Parallel format.

S.

PS - make for a freaking long afternoon...

Boy, for that one I'd have to revert to my former status as abstainer... 2 is my general daily limit. And I don't get days off anymore, ever.

How about a single malt scotch tasting! Now we're talking! It's kind of related to beer, anyway.

Bruno_78
11-15-2004, 11:38 PM
How is scotch related to beer? pardon my naivete on the hard liquors.

Stodbrew
11-15-2004, 11:39 PM
It's made from nothing but malt. Mmmm... delicious!

Bruno_78
11-15-2004, 11:41 PM
Like the same malt as beer? or like those malted milk balls you get at the movies?

Stodbrew
11-15-2004, 11:42 PM
Beer, man, beer!

Although, now I'm in the mood for some Whoppers! :D

Bruno_78
11-15-2004, 11:44 PM

Stodbrew
11-15-2004, 11:47 PM

Apparently you and I are the only one's that do. I've had SEVERAL requests NOT to bring him back. He's so cute and innocent though, a lot like me!

Stodbrew
11-16-2004, 12:06 AM
All the more reason to bring him back!

chazwicke
11-16-2004, 01:17 PM
Does Ralph have a human head? You guys look so much alike.

Single malt scotch is indeed a pleasure. Bruno you need to try a couple. I would recommend starting with Glen Fiddich or one of the more mainstream singles. Single malt scotch is a lot like beer and can have many flavor elements. From smokey to peaty. And if you ever visit a distillery you will see that the process is very similiar to brewing.....up to a point. Now I'm thinking I need to get back to Scotland because they have both single malts and cask ales!

fretlessman71
11-16-2004, 01:34 PM
Any whiskey and I don't get along, period... it's a shame because it seems like they've really put a lot of artistry into the concept of the single malt scotch, and I have to miss out on it. OTOH, it's probably a good thing since I'm such a lightweight.

chazwicke
11-16-2004, 01:42 PM
I'm a lightweight too, well not literally, that is why I prefer the milds. Anyway, single malts are for sipping. you could handle a small taster.

fretlessman71
11-16-2004, 01:55 PM
Actually, after a long talk with a bottle of JD when I was but a wee laddie, I've never gone near the stuff since without feeling my gorge rise.... :(

Hey... can you get bottled milds in your area? And is it just strength that determines whether or not it's a mild?

Whiskey of choice? Southern Comfort. Ahhhh, so comforting!

chazwicke
11-16-2004, 03:01 PM
A single malt is a special thing. I recommend that both you and Bruno give it a try. Remember, sip it.

Couldn't agree more. It is to be savored and enjoyed.

I wouldn't even know what to look for. Is there something that's available nationally?

fretlessman71
11-16-2004, 03:25 PM
Wish I could.... just makes me ill whenever I get close to it. Even the big beers aged in old bourbon oak barrels give me pause, tasty as they are...

If a man qualifies Southern Comfort as a whiskey I don't see sipping as a part of the equation.:p Yukon Jack is along the same lines. Unfortunately I also cannot appreciate whiskey/bourbon. I can only enjoy tequilas.

Bruno_78

Southern Comfort isn't sipped, It's best served Down The Hatch!

Of course, that was in my younger days.

hehehehehehehehehehe!

I like the scotches not the bourbons. And I like tequilas too. But 99% of the time I prefer Beer.

S.

Or was it 16 years old..?

chazwicke

I've got a good friend whose 50th birthday is coming up. He is hinting around that he would like some 50 year old cognac.

Bruno_78
11-16-2004, 09:07 PM
Is it me? or does anyone else have a problem with drinking something that's as old as they are?

50 years old? How much would something like that cost?

Umm... Mr. Bruno sir, with all due respect, I believe Southern Comfort is a Liqueur not a whisky. Also my favorite non-beer cocktail, 100 proof of course.
