Here's the invite for the Twin Cities "Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day". I'll be stopping by, I'm not one of the main brewers, but if you're at all interested in brewing, please stop by... (by the way, the door prizes are four complete starter brewing setups. thanks to Brew and Grow, Wind River, Northern Brewer, and Midwest Supplies...)

TEACH A FRIEND TO HOMEBREW DAY
Saturday, November 6
Barley John’s Brewpub

On Saturday, November 6, the Minnesota Homebrewers Association will celebrate national Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day by hosting free brewing demonstrations from 10:00 to 3:00 at Barley John's Brewpub. Barley John's is at 781 Old Hwy. 8 in New Brighton. (651.636.4670) Take 35W north to County Rd. D, then go west two blocks.

Each hour, on the hour (10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 1:00, and 2:00), an experienced brewer will demonstrate basic extract brewing and describe the process as he/she goes. The event is free and is open-house style, so bring a friend and learn the basics of brewing. There will be door prizes for new brewers, and interested neophytes will be paired with experienced brewers so that newer folks will know someone to call while making those first few batches.

This celebration will be held on the patio, so please dress appropriately. Tents will be erected in case of precipitation. Come, learn how to brew, meet a brewer who can help you through the first few batches, win a prize, and sample some of Barley John's first-rate, made-on-premise beer and food. For more information, please check www.mnbrewers.com or contact John Longballa at 651.292.9693 or jlongb@ties2.net.
See you there!

Someone needs to make this a national holiday! I'd LOVE to go somewhere here in town and check this out! :)

We will be doing ours this Saturday as well. We start with a short introduction for all the new guys on brewing and the different methods out there. Then we break down into groups for extract or grain and brew a few batches and sip some suds. For the evening we do a pot luck and have all the families come out with the kids.

It has been a good turnout in the past with upwards of 20 people with 4 or 5 new faces each time. More then anything it is nice to just get out and do something with your buddies.
