Hi,

New kegerator owner....long time beer drinker.....new to the forum.

I just got a Kenmore Kegerator from Sears. My beer pours pretty good with a decent head to it, but the foam doesn't stick around very long. It's gone within a minute or so. I have the temp at 39ish with 11ish PSI on the air. The bubbles look big in the foam.

Is the PSI to high? BTW, I'm moving next week (the kegerator is a house warming gift) so I only have a pony keg in it right now.

Thanks and always a cold one waiting,
Scott

I'll leave the beer chemistry to those more qualified than I, but make sure you glasses are absolutely clean...even a trace of soap film can cause the head to die very quickly.
I'm not sure if a rinse agent like Jet Dry has any effect...maybe someone else can answer that.

By the way...welcome to the board!
This is the most informative, friendliest beer board on the net (although I haven't checked the election poll thread yet today ;) )

welcome Scott... so, what kind of beer are we talking about here? (yes, your answer could open you up to some mock and ridicule, but we mean it only in fun... :D )

your pressure depends on a couple of things, beer line length, and personal preference. how long after you set this up have you had the problem? has it gotten any better over the past few days?

Wanted to say Welcome Scott! I will second the notion (heehee) that this is the friendliest beer site you'll find out there. Not much to add, but I will say that I've had people say they carbonate at a high PSI (maybe 20-30), shake the keg around a bunch to make sure it all got in there, and once that's done they dispense it at a much lower pressure (3-4, maybe?). Search around and see if you find any more instructions; sometimes following directions for someone else's "fix" will net the proper result anyway. Again, welcome! :)
