RE: What style would you like to compare? (per Community Brew Thread)
Realizing there are many varieties within these four broad styles, you can narrow it down after a primary style has been selected -

keep in mind that lighter styles like wheat, are some of the most challenging beers to make. perhaps it would be wise to keep it simple for the first go around. We might be able to attract more people.
Now that I have my pc response out of the way. Please dont pick a golden style. I am in an anti golden beer mode right now. The last thing I need is several gallons of something I dont want to drink :)
although I do have a wheat that is doing ok atm I could just use that if this kicks off soon.

i remember someone posting a porter recipe somewhere on this sight called----Holy Fricken Porter---
It was an extract recipe and looked pretty good---it could be something we do now and save for the fall/winter----
as i am typing this though, that seems pretty long to wait.
Im pretty excited about doing this---keep it up tweek.

I'm looking at the poll results so far, and see a pretty even split. 3, 3, 2 and 1 across various types. I go back to my last post in the original thread, in case we don't come to an overwhelming consensus, we can split up into groups of three for brewing and swapping...

This sounds like a good idea if we don't reach an overwhelming consensus, especially since it's looking like we may have to miminize our "shipping" to just a couple people.

I don't know which (Porter or IPA) I'm going to brew next ... and to be honest don't know when the next brewing session will be. I'm in the beginnings of another house move. :(

wow. I am suprised to see porter in the lead. I figured an ale would have more mass appeal. Porter is ok with me that is one of my favorite styles.

Ale covers a wide area. but yeah I was refering to a pale or an english style. Something that appeals to the masses.

I had to go back a page or two to find it. It looks like porter has the most votes.

The wheat beer brewers of Bavaria (when it became a nation in 1919, Germany adopted the law from the state of Bavaria - which vehemently insisted upon the law's retention before becoming a member of the new nation) have always had special dispensation to use wheat in their beers.
The Kings and Princes loved their wheats, but disliked the strange concoctions trying to be brought in from Belgium and other surrounding nations.
