I'm new to these forums so forgive me if I'm barking up the wrong tree here!

I'm looking to get a keg of central/northern Arizona regional beer for an upcoming party. The party will be in Flagstaff but we'll be driving from Pheonix and could pick up a keg on the way. I'm located half-way around the world in Sweden and have no chance of testing/tasting before reserving/buying.

Any recommendations? I'm looking for something special and price really isn't a consideration. I suppose the beer itself doesn't even need to be local as long as it is available in the region.

Thanks sincerely for any suggestions!

Man, oh man... good thing i checked the boards today. There are some really great beers in central Arizona, hopefully one of these will sound good to you, depends on what you're looking for, though.
For german style beers made locally, Rio Salado Brewing makes really wonderful stuff. Their summer beer will be a cherry wheat, almost like a lambic, but not as sweet. If your party is after Memorial Day, that beer will be ready to go. Other than that, the helles bock is great, as is the maibock, although I don't know how much of that they have left, as both of those were special batches. Their maerzen is awesome, too. Check them out at http://www.riosaladobeer.com, if you order from them, be sure to tell Tim Gossack (owner/head brewer) that Chris from Knotradio sent ya.
Another big local favorite is Four Peaks Brewing, http://www.fourpeaks.com, they have a Scottish Ale that will knock your socks off called Kiltlifter. Kiltlifter is well known all over the state, and is a welcome addition to any party.
Sonora Brewing, http://www.sonorabrew.com, makes a really nice Pale Ale called Burning Bird, after the mythical creature our city is named after. It's not incredibly hoppy, and is pretty damned good and refreshing on a hot summer Arizona day.
My favorite Pale Ale in the state however, is from Mogollon Brewery, http://www.mogollonbrewing.com, and is called Superstition Pale Ale, named for the Superstition Mountains and has a great looking label with a Gila monster on it. Mogollon is actually located in Flagstaff, so that would be really easy to pick up.
Hope all this helps... have a great party!

Chango makes some very excellent recommendations, all those beers would be worth a stop here in Phoenix. The Rock-Bottom Brewery has some outlets here in town also. www.rockbottem.com.
The red ale and the pale are pretty good, but stay away from the wheat.

Hey thanks for the responses!

I'll do some calling around to see which of these I can get my hands on. And, if things don't get too hectic before I make the long flight out there, I'll try to log in and let you know what I decide on.

Once again, thanks for taking the time. What a resource!
