ive been toying with the idea of switching to all grain brewing over the summer, but i would like to try to do it without spending an arm and a leg. i think i will probably go with a system that uses 2 of those large coolers, and i came across a site that sells a complete setup. what do those of you who all grain brew think of the setup, or what do you suggesthttp://www.morebeer.com/

-i cant get the link to take me to the page, but its the b3-150 (maybe the one with the pot and chiller. this can be found under all grain equipment down the page a little)

THat's really cool, I'll bet you could make that setup yourself for under 80$.

That's a great template to build a system from. I agree, I bet you can build it for very little money. Buy the false bottom and the coolers, a few more parts, a little bit of time.............your there.

That would work. and it is not a bad price point. Those coolers are expensive and once you tally up the fittings and what not I bet you would only save about 20 bucks or so. However I wouldnt get a all grain system that only supports 5 gallon batches.

The setup I have is I use my old 8 gallon brewpot for my liqour pot. Then I have a 10 gallon gott cooler that I use for my mash/lauter tun. Then I have a 13 gallon brewpot for my boil. This setup works great and I highly reccomend it.

Tweek, do you have yours set up in any kind of an ergonomic configuration, or do you do the Kettle calisthenics?
Those "trees" are pretty cool and would also be easy to make with the right raw material on hand...

yeah currently I have a table that I have my stove on and my liqour pot goes on there, then that runs to my cooler which is sitting on a chair, which runs to my boil pot which sits on the ground. once the sparge is finished I have to lift the boil pot up on top of the table. THis sucks ass. 11 or so gallons at near 150 degrees from the ground to about 4.5 feet all by yourself is not fun. I have a buddy that is going to build me a frame. Ill hook up burners to each spot and that way I can start the boil once my boil pot is only part way full, that will greatly reduce brew time. The stands are too damn expensive at the store. Most things I dont mind paying a could extra bucks to help out the industry but those stands are robbery. I am going to go pull some scrap tube steel and my buddy will weld it, then Ill make him homebrew for the effort.

Oh, yeah, there's a recipe for disaster and a long hospital stay!! 110 pounds of hot wort....my back hurts just thinking about it.
