I have two full unopened bottles of what I have heard called "movie beer" that are made by Budweiser to be featured in movies and TV. They look exactly like the real things (one Bud, and one Bud Light), but the Letters are scrambled. In other words, at first glance you think "Oh, a bottle of Bud" but then you look closer and the text says "Bifurwensor" or somethign like that.
Can anyone give me some information on these? What they are really called? How rare they are? And what they might be worth? Thanks!!!! You can reach me at: steady a-t gmail d-o-t com
Thanks!

Welcome to the board. I have seen cans of beer that were made as movie props before. They were paper lables stuck over a can. They are uncommon. I would put them on Ebay and see what they bring. It would help if you knew what TV show or movie they were featured in.

Thanks for getting back to me!
So, they were made at the Bud factory in Colorado. I have a friend
of the family who works there and he said that every few years they
make ONE batch of these. They are made specifically for the movie and
tv industry for use on screen in order to skirt trademark issues as
well as shows that do not allow consuming of alcohol. This way it
looks like they're drinking a Bud, but it's actually not. Strange!
They supposedly bring in extra security and stuff because so many
people want them since they are so rare, including employees :)
So my friend got a few and gave me a Bud and a Bud light. Think you
would know anyone else that might have some info on them or would have
heard of this, because I do want to know what they are worth, but do not really want to sell them quite yet, so eBay isn't an option...

Try the BCCA. They are not professional can/collection appraisers, but they might lead you to someone who'd know, or a show in your area where you could get an estimate:

Newport, Are you a BCCA member?
I am and also belong to a couple of local BCCA Chapters. I also belong to East Coast Breweriana Association and American Breweriana Association.
I was wondering if anyone else on the boards belongs to any of these organizations?

No, I'm not a member. I do have a collection of bottles/cans/etc. from the past 6-7 years, since I have been drinking better beer. Nothing really rare, so I doubt they are worth much. Never really checked out a show - maybe I should.
Cheers!
