This past weekend I visited St. Louis - while there I made a trip to a local store and found a discount liquor rack, with BEER.

I managed to pick up the following steals!

4-pack (pints) Beamish Irish Stout - $2.50
6-pack (12 oz) Murphy's Red - $3.50

Ok, so they were probably aged, but weren't they to begin with?!

I've tried them both, and they were A-OK!

What's your best tasty beverage deal?

Two weekends ago a local store had BASS on sale - $9.99 for a twelve pack - compared to the normal price it was a good deal - but really I don't feel like it's a great deal. - Good enough to lure me to the register though!

Hey Redbird Fan, if I had found 4-packs of Beamish for $2.50 I would have cleaned out my savings account to stock up on it. Here in North Carolina I go to a wine store that also carries beer, and Beamish is $6.49 for a 4-pack. I drink Guinness at $10.99 an 8-pack and would kill for deals like that.

yeah, it was a great deal! it was on a discount rack, meaning they must have though it was too old, or just not selling. Funny thing is, it's not really too old - Beamish is "old" when it gets here for us to buy anyway (especially in the mid-west) - I cracked one open and it tasted just fine -

I think their pints are funny because they sound like paint cans w/ the "widget" stuck in them.

Damn, those are some good deals. Here I'm getting excited because Rogue's loading dock sale is happening this weekend. Cases of 22oz Shakespere Stout for 25 bucks and the 22oz Mocha Porter for 20!

Have we forgotten ( or perhaps not tasted) a fine Wisconsin Club at $1.99/six bottles or Huber Bock $ 12.99/24 bottles. Redbirdfan, did you try any of the wonderful offerings from the Schlafly Brewery in St. Louis? Good stuff. Go Cardinals.

yes! They had that as well, I picked up 3 magnums of them, I think it was. Hoppy, strong. Need friends with you if you crack a magnum of that! I have always been impressed by all of HOD's beers! I think Adam is my favorite tho.

No, I didn't try it, it was for sale to, but I didn't pull the trigger on purchasing it.

Is it worth looking into?

(not that I can pick it up now, I don't live there)

Hey, not a bad idea - we could use this thread (or start another one, which I think I will do at some point) - where we could post good / great deals on brew for sale in the various regions.

i.e. - if you see something on sale, tell us where! chances are someone in your area will read the post and be able to take advantage of the sale!

what do you think?

Wow, 2.50$ is a steal plain and simple. I too would have cleared out the savings and bought em all. 6.49$ a 4-pack is what I would pay out here in Hawaii, that is when they actually have it in stock. If somebody conquers Hawaii again I hope its the Belgians because our lack of real beer is depressing. Kinda sucks when Beamish is some of the best stuff out here...

If you like to cellar beers for later, I've scored a couple of great deals recently. Grabbed a 4 pack of Thomas Hardy's (1998) for under $10. Also grabbed a three pack of Newport Storm barleywines from each year ('00, '01, '02) for $18. They normally sell for $50+ in the display box or about $40 if you can find the bottles individually. The distributor wanted to get rid of them, so I benefitted with dirt-cheap prices.

Cheers!
