OK, need some feedback. In addition to the fact I went to school in Nashville, now my sister lives there, so I'll have another reason to go visit Music City. Where are the good brewpubs and bars? And don't tell me Blackstone. I got food poisoning there last time I was in town. I remember Market Street Brewing just off Broadway, but I understand they went Tango Uniform. This Bosco's is apparently new since the last time I was there. Any thoughts?

Bosco's (on 21st Ave in Hillsboro Village) is excellant although it has been there awhile (at least since '99 when I discovered it while in school). Bosco's was started in Memphis and has about 4 locations nationwide.
I'd also suggest stopping by Dan McGuinness. It's a great Irish bar also originally started in Memphis. It's located about halfway between Hillsboro Village and dowtown in the area where the Country Music Hall of Fame used to be. There are also a few other bars in that area now, but most of them have more of a college feel.
Downtown you should check out Buffalo Billards and Havanna Lounge upstairs on 2nd Ave. Buffalo Billards will have a decent selection on tap and lots of billiard tables. Havanna lounge is nicer and will be mostly mixed drinks. Also downtown is the Tap Room off of 2nd Ave on Church street just below Hooters. They have a good selection (including Arrogant Bastard on tap last time I was there) but it is more of a college atmosphere. The other direction down Church is Printer's Alley where there are a few great bars (more for atmosphere then drink selection) are located including Lonnie's Western Room (country western kareoke) and a great Blues joint (forgot the name - something Boogie and Blues maybe).

There is Big River Grille and Brewing Works across from Hard Rock Cafe; unfortunately, their beer is very average at best.
I went there a couple years ago; the food was quite good, though, and reasonably priced. They have a shrimp scampi served over cheesy grits that I really liked, and it fills you up for quite a while!
It's a real nice place, but like I said, the beer is nothing to write home about unless it has improved in the past couple of years...still might be worth a try.

It's been a couple of years for me, too. But I second the vote for Bosco's. Great beers, very good food. Definitely worth it. There's also a Flying Saucer in town that has a pretty decent selection.
If Market Street's still open, avoid it. And I agree with Bluesharp on his assessment of Big River.
It's a shame you had a bad experience with Blackstone. I had an excellent lunch there, and the beers were decent.

Thanks for the input. It'll probably be summer at the earliest before I get up there, but I'll file these suggestions away.

How did you make out in Nashville? Could you give me an update as to what was good?
I am going down on a golf trip at the end of April. While I have nothing against country music, it just isnt my bag. I'll stick to the beer.
Someone mentioned Buffalo Billiards. I know that is on the TO DO list, but I was wondering what they had on tap?
Thanks
