okay it's like this, your out on a camping trip for a week and there are two days left to go untill some one comes to get you. you wake up in the morning thirsty and the only thing left to drink other then river water is beer , what kind of beer do you have for breakfast , lunch and dinner?

Oh yeah, eggs and ale! That is much better than the chips and goldschlager camping experience I've had.
I'd have to say though, eggs and ale could be a leather gaseous combination - better be camping alone.
no stouts or porter for breakfast - don't want to start the day that full.

ah ha , but what kind of ale?
i would probably start breakfast with an 1845
for lunch perhaps an arrogant bastard (in case i ran in to a dangerous wild animal i wanted to antagonize, i would have the ability to be a real bastard)
and for dinner hummm.....perhaps an old rasputin (haven't tried one yet but it'd be a good time to, in case the wild animal came back when i was sleeping.

It has to be a wheat beer. Think Wheaties in a bottle. No bowl or milk required.

Start the day with a light Irish stout for breakfast. Forget the eggs.(eggs are for yellow bellies as my kids would say. lol)
Lunch: I would move on to...
...stout. A wee heavier this time. Say, oh, Deschuttes Obsidean Stout. Maybe throw a sandwich or ?? in to balance things.
Dinner, of course, would be stout. A good Imperial Stout. Old Rasputin comes to mind.

Make that a Maple Wheat beer and you've got liquid pancakes....

I also think it makes a difference in what time of year it is. A really hardy and bitter beer would be great on a cold winter morning in the outdoors.
I've never had beer for breakfast, just doesn't seem right. Cider on the other hand...

Lager for breakfast, ale for lunch, and stout for dinner (which lasts all evening).

A hearty stout or mocha porter, kinda like that morning cup of coffee, dark and thick. Fry up a good thick steak, home fries, eggs and honey brown pancakes. mmm beer pancakes
Great now I'm hungry again

The only time I allow myself beer for breakfast is at a beer festival...you know...to get the palate primed;) I'm with Theakston, gotta be wheat, especially hefe.
At lunch I'd reach for an IPA.
Dinner...smoked porter.

If I were camping, for breakfast I would be having pancakes and apples, so I would pair them with Ephemere from Unibroue.
At lunch, with the fish I had just caught, an Ommegang Rare Vos.
For dinner, with the rabbit who sacrificed itself for the campfire, a Victory Storm King Imperial Stout to help wash out the gamey taste.
Then I'd head for the nearest lodge for some serious drinking.
Beer; it's not just for breakfast anymore.

Lager. Lager and pancakes. We have that about once a month of a Sunday.
Whether we're camping or not:D

I guess it would depend on what kind of food you had while camping. If you've got standard fare, like steak and potatoes to cook over the coals, then I could see a good rauchbier to complement the flavor. If you're having fish, then a smoked porter would be a good match. A stout is almost a meal in itself, and would be a good complement to many foods.
Early in the day, though, I would want something lighter for breakfast, like a steam beer, an IPA, or your standard lawnmower fare. Tom's idea of a lambic is intriguing, though.

If it was in the poll I would have gone for lambic as well. Just tart enough to wake me up for the day

Yes, fruit is a good way to start the day why not lambic. I can almost agree with Theakston on wheat beer. I could even imagine something like a thick porter or stout. yum.

There was a song back in the 80s with the lyric " I'm drinking beer for breakfeast.......When I go to the beach!" I think the song was indeed called "When I Go To The Beach". It was very appropre for me at the time. My early 20s with my buds down at Ocean City. Anyone know the name of the band who did that song?

I can name that band in 4 beers!
If you are thinking of the same song that I am, then it was The Slickee Boys, a garage band that kinda wanted to be beach/punk/mainstream/whotheheckknows. The song was in fact called "When I Go To The Beach."

Thats right! It was the Slickee Boys! I'll bet I even have the album. Only it is vinyl not cd. I'll have to dig it out and burn a copy. Thanks for refreshing my old memory.

I like white beer for breakfast. I had one (or more) with some pastry at a Hoegaarden cafe in Bruges. It was great.
...there's a porkchop in every one.
Ale, biscuits and gravy, eggs, and pork sausage.

Speaking of old music, Chaz, for some reason I have had Black Flag's "T.V. Party" on my mind all day, and I cannot figure out why. It has been years since I have heard that tune. Mebbe it is time for the both of us to pull out the old vinyl and dust off the turntable!
stout for breakfast...definitely stout :)

I had an Organic Coffee Porter made by Real Ale Brewery of Blanco TX, while at the Dixie Cup Homebrew Festival. It was about 9:30 am while I was drinking it and it was the PERFECT breakfast beer.
