Hi, new here to the boards and have been having fun reading the posts. Fairly new to the DC/VA area and maybe I was spoiled back in Chicago but I can't seem to find trappists ie Rochefort 10 and Chimay GR in smaller bottles here in DC. Can anyone shoot me in a direction of where I may find some. Thanks in advance. T

Welcome to the board. There are several of us DC area posters. Where have you checked for the smaller bottles? I have mainly seen the bigger ones but there may be a "paint store" around here that carries the smaller bottles that we can recommend. Just depends on what area you live in and haow far you're willing to travel. We also have several posters from the Chicago area on this board so you should feel right at home. Again, Welcome!

Thanks for the welcome. I'm between Adams Morgan in DC and Strasburg in VA so anywhere along I66 from DC to I81. I've managed to pick up a few bottles of the smaller Chimay bottles but nothing on the R10. T

Welcome to the board T.
You should try the Wholefoods market in Vienna. They usually have all the trappists. Isn't R10 always in the small size?
Anyway Whole foods is at 143 Maple Ave (a mile or so off of I-66) phone nummber is (703) 319-2068 - If you want to call first to check ask for Jim Dorsch, he's the beer guy there (he knows his stuff - he writes for the mid atlantic brewing paper).
You can ask him to set a few aside and if you buy more than a dozen (mixed not all the same) he'll give you a discount.

Welcome back Theakton. How was the trip?

Hey thanks Chaz. The trip was great. Sicily and the Aeolian islands are beautiful. The food was great (all seafood) the wine was great (local wine Nero d'avola). The beer was all Moretti all the time (apart from the Wunderbar in Taormina where they had a great selection of expensive German lagers and Weissbeers).

I needed a Gumballhead and an Alpha king as soon as I got back just to get my lupulin levels back to normal.

Norms Beer and Wine in Vienna still has some Gumballhead on the shelves. As of last week that is. I bought all 6 bottles Jim had on the shelves at WF.

They did not have any at the Braddock Rd. WF two weeks ago. Since it is a summer seasonal I'm expecting the supply to dry up quickly.

Welcome back (coridale benvenuto!) Theakston. Glad to see you had a good time. Looks like we'll have to do emergency beer re-introduction therapy. I'm here and willing to help.

Takker,

You might also try giving Chevy Chase Wine & Spirits or Cairo Liquors a call. If you you haven't been to CCWS you need to go. I think it's 800 or so beers they have. Certainly either will be able to order whatever you need if it's available.

Chevy Chase has the best selection in the entire area by my estimation. A trip over there is always productive. And Total Wines in Chantilly and Alexandria sometimes have a good supply although not nearly as good as when it was owned by the Hafts and was Total Beverage.
