Are there Brewers out there Still alittle scared of the Boil over when Brewing ? I've Done a few Brews now , and I can't seem to not be alittle Scared of the Boil over when it starts to Rise up . I 've only had one Boil over in my Time , but still get alittle uneasy when I start to see the Brew Rise

I think perhaps this is the wrong section for this topic. But Yea I still fear the boil over. been brewing a while but I am not above mistakes. I have had many boil overs, fortunately I always brew outdoors so clean up is pretty easy. It is still a drag when it happens.

Yeah, I still get a little uptight when the boil first comes on. After a couple of boil overs you learn that there are worse things, however. You could drop your boiler when trying to pour into the fermenter. Not that I know anything about that. Heh heh.

Post it in the homebrewing area. not that general beer talk is that far off from brewin, just that homebrewing is more appropriate. BTW, adding the hops just a few minutes before boiling breaks the surface tension of the wort and minimizes boil over.

I found out the hard way that adding the hops to an already rolling boil triggers something that causes a VIOLENT boilover.
My girlfriend was quite displeased with the burnt malt smell that permeated the house for 3 days.
