I got 8 bottles of 90-Minute IPA at lunch today and 1 12oz bottle of Raison D'Etre. I'm so happy :)

I'm heading to the shore tomorrow. Maybe I'll stop at DFH. :D

Maybe the "trickle down effect" will take place and soon I will be seeing it up here!

You really do enjoy rubbing it in, don't you?!

Actually, I like their beers but some of them are a little too far out there for me. The Shelter Pale Ale ,Indian Brown, 60 min and 90 minute are all good but some of the other crazy stuff they try is a bit beyond my preferences. I voted for Three Floyds over them in the battle of the beers.

I agree, Chazwicke. DFH can get too creative for their own good sometimes. They've been accused of being a lot of hype and little substance. I don't agree with that as I applaud their weirder efforts. Love 'em or hate 'em, experimentation is good for beer as a whole.

That said, I enjoyed a couple 60 minute IPAs last night at the pub. Though I did pour out the last several ounces of the Pangaea I drank over the weekend. A little too sweet on the malt and the ginger became overwhelming to me by the end of the 750ml bottle.

Cheers!

Good luck.....you'd better buy all you can right now. I used to work for them in Austin for 2 years and they were notorious for not ordering enough to keep from being out of stock. Perhaps Rohit at Whip In will warehouse it for them and keep an ample supply in the area! Mmmm, I miss Texas....-BeerGal

I haven't had the 60 minute yet. So far the only beer I've had with noticeable ginger in it has been Anchor's Our Special Ale, and I liked that.

Well I'm up in Rhode Island so there is usually an abundant supply of dogfish head. It is one of my favorite bottled beers. There was even a tasting at a liquor store the other day and I got to try some of the odder ones and I got a free pint glass. I didn't really care for the "raison d'etre" but many of the weird flavors were pretty good. I don't know if you see it where you are but the Chicory stout is one of my all time favorite beers. Good luck with the supply, Tim.

Yes. A little too much for my tastes. Interesting beer worth buying if you enjoy spicy Belgian ales. Check out Pangaea's description:

Where did you move to? Move back. We can always use more good beer people.

I've seen that before. I may try it eventually, but right now there are a lot of beers I want to try ahead of it!

We were down in Austin this past weekend, and I went looking for DFH. The only one I found was the Raison d'Etra, at the Central Market on Lamar. I chickened out when I saw it was brewed with "Belgian beet sugar and green raisins." Ew. I don't do fruit with beer. Still looking for the 90-Minute, and especially intrigued by that Chicory Stout (Mmm....chicory). Wonder if that'll ever make it to Austin?

The Chicory Stout is actually one of their standards, so it should show up. I like the DFH standards as much as the kooky special brews. My wife is a big fan of the Shelter Pale Ale, and the Indian Brown is a nice beer too. I almost forget about these choices sometimes with the plethora of good beers available now.

I do enjoy some of the seasonals, too. It was nice to have the Aprihop in bottles this year. That's pretty decent, IMO, and I'm not really a "fruit beer" person.

I had the Raison D'Etre for the first time two weeks ago and I really enjoyed it(I, too, am not a "fruit" beer guy). It was mellow but complex.

Did you try Grapevine Market? It's on Mopac near Anderson Lane.

Nah. We only looked in a handful of places. Two year olds don't put up with beer-shopping very well:p . Next time we're down there, I'll hit GM. Thanks for the heads-up.

And I'll go ahead and be brave and try the Raison d'Etra next time I come across it.

I really enjoyed the Raison d'etre! It was the ONLY DFH beer left at the SA Central Market...

BTW, SA Homebrew Supply has the 60 Minute on draft (at least they DID on Saturday!!) I also saw a 1/2 bbl keg of the 90 Minute waiting in the wings....

Cheers! Rocket

I had some of the 90 minute at a place called PNP's Pub in Arlington. Very good stuff, and it sneaks up on you quick!

Recently the 60 Minute, 90 Minute, and Indian Brown showed up in our area. The Indian Brown was good (not a huge fan of brown ales), but I was disappointed by the 90 Minute. I could taste the alcohol, which was pretty off-putting. The 60 Minute, though, was JUUUUST right. Delicious. I keep a 6 pack in my beer fridge at all times now!

I tried the 60 minute and the Raison D'Etre and liked them both just fine. But the 90 minute IPA is exceptional. It's probably the single best IPA I've ever had- in recent memory anyway. Definately hoppy, but refined and mellow and not perfumy or obnoxious. The abv is pretty nice too. If I could figure out how to home brew that one, I'd never leave the house.

(I'm hoping my current Imperial Pale Ale will turn out close.)

I think both the 60 and 90 are very good beers.

Hmmm.... slowly adding hops for an hour and a half? Now THAT'S a dedicated homebrewer! :)

Finally...seeing some Dogfish Head up in this part of the state. I have a sixer of the 60 Minute IPA in the fridge now.

Now...the downside, I am supposed to be on a diet and abstaining from the adult beverages for a while. All I need is a way to convince the wife that I really deserve a reward!!!

Sometimes it's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to convince someone in the first place - read, drink it now apologize later :)

I would like to, however, I am lending moral (and physical, it would seem) support to my wife. So...I will try to hit my target within the month, then back to the beer that made me so round!!!
