Hop Juice

I know how much you all enjoyed the Hop Juice at the LB IPA Fest last month, so I wanted to share this news with you. I ran into Tom Nickel and Ray Daniels last night at Fathers Office. Tom said his latest batch of Hop Juice will be ready and avail. in about 3-4 weeks.

I believe it's keg only, with an occasional cask-conditioned batch if you're lucky. But I'm not certain about bottles, so I'll ask him.

Hey, what do you know about Riverside Brewing Co's Oktoberfest this year? I've heard some good things about it. Might be a good place to have a few. I think it's the last 2 weeks in Sep.- first week Oct.

Being from Minnesota I've never tasted Tom Nickel's hop juice. I do however have the recipe to make 5 gallon batches.I got the recipe off beertown. org back in May when they had there (AHA)Big Brew Celebration.They gave both all-grain and extract recipes.I've brewed this one 2 times in the last 3 months. The first time was delicously hoppy and the 2nd time is still in the secondary dry hopping.I'm sure when I crack one of batch #2 it'll be just as awesome.It's a very good recipe.

If I can, I'm in for Okt-fest. Since Crown City has changed a little I have a 2 liter boot that needs its yearly abuse. Let me know and I'll try. As for Hop Juice, mmmmmm. All I do is go from Franks to Pliny to H.J.. A rough existence.

Oops, I also forgot, a new BevMo has been placed about half a mile from my job. I just got an Allagash Triple and Dubbel. Anyone try???

yeah!!!! i love the tripel !!!! the double is okay.
there's something going on in upland at some brewery there for o'fest but i'll have to get the details. warstiener's putting it on. suppose to have something tasty from germany there to celebrate o'fest with. i haven't been to riverside brewing, their beer has really sucked the last few years. but i read over on ba that that may have changed.

Here's a easy way to get the recipe. Go to www.beertown.org homesite.On the left column on the homesite there's different listings.Click on Big brew- nat'l homebrew day.You'll get 6 different recipes (3 all-grain & 3 extract) including the extract recipe for the hop juice.I've done the all-grain version a couple times now and it's a hop lovers delight.Happy brewing!

Spoke to David today. He's doing a Sierra Nevada event through this weekend, and probably even longer. He said he won't be getting any Hop Juice for at least week or two.

I can wait...:(
