Here are two items I received that may be of interest to Real Ale fans in DC Baltimore:

It appears as if Baltimore will have TWO cask ale events this year.

The first, is of course, the Racers' Real Ale Challenge, Saturday 9
October.

Now comes word that the Chesapeake branch of the SPBW (Society for the
Preservation of Beer from the Wood) is holding their own event - in
years past they have teamed up with Racers Cafe - and are billing it as
"The Premier Real Ale Event In Maryland".

It's to be Saturday, 23 October, 1-6pm at the Wharf Rat, 206 W. Pratt
Street, Baltimore, MD (across from Camden Yards).
$20 in Advance
$25 at the Door

It's difficult to ever have too much good real ale!

This year our Real Ale Festival will be at The Wharf Rat at Camden
Yards.
<...>
This promises to be one of the best real ale events we’ve ever had.
Bill Oliver of the Wharf Rat is excited about hosting the event and we
are working diligently with their crew to make this a huge success. We
will soon have links on our website to order tickets and/or you can
contact me. Please make plans now to attend and bring along others who
share the joy of Real Ale.

Thanks,
Dominic

The Wharf Rat you say? Sounds great! Completely off topic but when is the wing fling this year?

sounds like a road trip (or rail trip) is on the cards.
I'm definitely up for the October 23rd.
Check back here nearer the date? anyone got a train schedule?

The train would be perfect for this event. I have serveral friends who live up in Charm City and when we go for a session the train has served us well (it's actually better for people starting in ending in DC for some reason). The festival is early enough to make this an easy choice. I'll get specific details, but off the top of my head I think Saturday service (Amtrak only IIRC) is hourly and maybe $14rt. I'll find out for sure.
