How long does Star san last?

I had ~4 gal of star san sitting in my primary for about ~2 weeks, I decided to use it to sanitze my conical last weeked for a new batch, I have heard that it lasts a while, but after tasting the latest batch it had a slight medicinal taste to it, apon looking up this in the beer manuals it says that this can be caused by sanitation. So is there an quick and easy way to tell if star san is still good once mixed up?

Use 1 ounce of STAR SAN per 5 gallons of water. Parts must have contact with solution for 30 seconds and put on wet. When solution begins to cloud, sweeten with Star San or Phosphoric Acid. Solution must remain at a pH at 3 or below to maintain proper sanitizing level.

so check your pH, I guess...

Thanks Danno, I seem to remeber even a new solution of star san is cloudy........I'll have to pay closer attention, may be "cloudy" is relative....

Yeah, I never figured out what "cloudy" means. I have kept StarSan for over a month, checking it's pH regularly.
