so, what does it do for me, how would I "convert" a recipe if I wish to use this technique, and if it's so dang effective, why does only one of the dozen plus BYO clones this month use it? (AleSmith is the only recipe, btw...) (see here (http://www.realbeer.com/discussions/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4478) for a related post on the Sept BYO issue...)

I've read dissenting views on FWH. Some brewers feel it's great - some feel it's a waste of time and adds no additional flavor. I've never tried it.

If you do FWH you calculate it for max utilization, which for me is about 30% from 60 minutes on.

I have been using FWH on some of my latest recipes. I haven't tried it with the ones that I have been brewing for a long time so can't tell you if it makes a big difference in flavors or bittering. I can say that I am pleased with the results I am getting with it. One of the things I wasn't counting on is boil overs are less since I have been doing it.
