Welcome to the board. You may see the Franziskaner Monk here abouts. Not sure where to get a t shirt though.

I procured one from the local distributors a few years ago, I'd try them first. Are you a Franzi fan, or a devotee of the great poster artist Ludwig Höhlwein, who designed the Franzi label?

Thanks for that advice, I called the distributor in the west last night and left a message with them, I hope i get it!! hey ironically I am from IL (Schaumburg). I am in Utah now, the 3.2% acohol state. For those that dont know, thats what the beer is here, unless you go to a bar (which makes you get a membership, each bar-at 20 bucks a pop!) But luckily the state operated liquor stores sell the real stuff, and not alot (damnit) but they did supply my Franz, but no DUNKEL, damnit, i cant win!!!
They say its the religion here, but I dont want to quote anyone, all i know is a bottle of dunk cost 1.79 at eagle discount in Hoffman Estates, but its a bout 2.15 here, so basically everything is taxed sky high and everyone runs to ID or WY to get beer, but they dont have a clue either!
well anyway, there having a BLUES AND BREWS festival here, sept, 17 & 18. This year its just local breweries, the beers okay, but its now Dark Star from Melrose brewery in Barrington. They do a great job here though, but they bow to the state, buy also making the 3.2 and sitting it on the grocery shelves. its a eniqma to me, but as long as i can get my Franz I am cool.
check it out at www.thegallivancenter.com, the best thing besides micro brews it they got some kick ass jazz going on those two days. i hope to take some pictures and link it for you guys.
peace

Have you tried Wasatch? (http://www.wasatchbeers.com/) There is good beer to be found in the wasteland!
There used to be a couple great German restaurants in Schaumburg, I haven't been there in a while so I'm not sure if they're still around. One had Spaten as a house beer, so I'm sure there was Franzi to be had!
Thanks for the info on the artist brother.
His politics weren't the greatest, but his style is just outstanding - IMO. I have an original, late '30s, hand drawn and pulled lithograph Spaten poster by Hohlwein adorning my living room wall. The colors in a stone litho are amazing.
Good luck with the t-shirt - and beer hunting!
