Sorry to be asking so many questions. Since I have the locks taken care of and the cleaning equipment, now I have a question about "life span" of micro brews.

I have been home all summer (I am a teacher) and I have consumed A LOT of beer (not that its all bad to do that
 ) But I have packed on some weight and really have been having beers way too often.

So I usually have 2 1/6 barrels in my meister. One mainstream (everyone kinda likes it) and one that I like. Since I am going to slow down my consumtion of beers, I wonder how long the kegs will last in the meister under 36*f temp and about 7-10psi of co2 without "going bad" or changing flavors.

I have heard that beer can last up to 4-5 mos. if temp and pressure are good. But i heard that is for the macros that have been pasturized.

The 2 brews that I will have are Troegs Hopback and Jersey Gold.
Let me know. Thanks for all your wisdom!!!

If they are kept cold, I don't think it matters if they are pasteurized.

I had a half barrel of Summit EPA for six months, then pumped the remainder into two cornies, and didn't finish THEM off until another six months later. The beer was under co2 and kept in my converted chest freezer, and was as good when we finished it off as when we first tapped it. You'll be fine...

I just poured beer at the Newport Storm Luau this past weekend. They had two kegs of their Blizzard Porter (winter seasonal) from last year that had to be, at minimum, 7 months old. Tasted great and went very quickly. Might have been the most popular beer there.

Cheers!

Heh, why? We had a German family transfer over here to Austin for a year working on a company project. I was over at their house one afternoon and saw all these cases of Bud Light. I asked them with astonishment, "You guys come from the land of good beer, what's with all the Bud Light?" They said "We don't like the water here." I kid you not!
