A friend of mine is visiting relatives in Duvall, Washington (he's from Michigan), about 25 miles outside Seattle. Do you have any recommendations of local breweries or bottle beers to pick up (or more importantly, for him to pick up for me)?

Doug-

Snoqualmie Falls Brewery makes some excellent stuff, and the brewery is down Rt. 203 from Duvall in Snoqualmie (about 20 miles). I live less than 5 miles from there (other direction from Duvall). Any time I run out of home brew, I pick up some of theirs. The master brewer used to be the master brewer for Thomas Kemper before Pyramid bought them out. QFC (regional supermarkets) started carrying their stuff in 22oz Bombers. Try the Wildcat IPA, Copperhead Pale Ale, and Steam Train Porter. See this link (http://www.fallsbrew.com/)

Rogue has a Brewhouse in Issaquah. Great stuff there.
There are 2 Rock Bottom Breweries, one in Seattle, one in Bellevue. Always a good bet.

If he can get to Pike Place Market in Seattle, be sure to go into the Pike Place Brewery. They have a brewpub and always great stuff on tap.

There is no end to the great beer available here in the Seattle area.

If your friend makes it into Seattle, they NEED to go to Bottleworks (http://www.bottleworks.com) as they have hundreds and hundreds of local bottled beer. Have a looksie for yourself

Cheers!
