I have had my meister for about 4 mos. I love it. I have a 2 tap brass tower and usually have 2 beers on tap. I have the unit under my bar and ran the lines through HVAC insulation. Works well.
But...I have had to defrost is manually about 3 times w/ the 4th coming up soon.
Here is my problem: Its "supposed" to have an Auto-defrost. Obviously it doesnt work. I dont open in much, only to change the kegs and clean the lines (about once a month) so the door isnt open a lot.
I was wondering if I could possibly have the temp too cold 38*F, if the unit is woking properly due to it being enclosed, or if it is a unit thing.
Any thoughts would be great.
Thanks!

sounds like you expanded your system. What I mean by that is you don't have the tower sitting right on top of unit. I will define that as a closed system. By adding the HVAC extension with your beer line your system has expanded, possibly opening it up to more moisture then was intended or expected by the people that made the fridge. That would be my best guess.

Thanks for that hi. I hadnt thought of it that way. i turned the temp up a little and the panel had defrosted (I know...duh, what did you think would happen if you did that? )
Do you think that there is anyway to stop that or will it hurt the meister? I guess I can live w/ it if it wont hurt the meister. But....the only reason that i turned the temp up is b/c i kecked the kegs that i had and i am waiting for some more.
Thanks for that insight!

How cold does your Haier get? On the coldest setting I can't get mine cold enough cold enough for my cheap light beer.

Is your unit well ventilated? Check the fins and see if they have a dirt/dust build up. A compressor not getting air will do all kinds of neat things.

N, i ususually have the temp at around 37-38*. I have never tried to get it at the coldest setting. Do you have the ice build up problem too?
Wort, would having the unit inside a bar (underneath in the cabinet) maybe cause it not to get as cold like N said?

No, it creates a different problem that can result in ice build up. The compressor will not run correctly and can cause an ice build up as it short cycles. The ice build up will prevent the unit from cooling product correctly.
A compressor must have good ventilation. If the cabinet does not allow for some good air flow you will have to modify it. Most units are manufactured with a vent for the compressor.

The unit is pretty well ventilated and it is not under a bar or anything. I do have a little bit of ice build up do to me constantly opening the door the first couple of days while making adjustments.
I will clean off the ice and we will see what happens.
Thanks,
Nate

I cleaned off the ice and still no difference. I called Haier and they gave me the name of a local appliance repair shop that will come out to look at the unit free of charge.
