hey i am planning on attending uc davis to become a brewmaster next year and was wonder if anyone has any advise? i was wondering mainly about job placement and salary. by job placement i mean how hard is it to get a job for a brewery? any info and advise would be greatly appreciated.

I am following a similar track. What I have found out is that you need to start at the bottom (fermentation science degree or not) and work your way up to brewmaster. Unless of course you can afford to buy your own shop :). Job placement is touch and go. You just need to keep your eyes open in the area that you want to be in. Unfortunately the breweries in California are all pretty spread out so if you want to stay in a particular area you amy need to be patient. As for salary, it is pretty much non existant at the micro brew level. You cold probabally make some decent money at the AB/coors/miller facilities. Like anything else, once you have established a name for yourself in the community of course you can demand a bit more money.
